The Brazilian Microbiological Resource Center (BMRC) is an information and reference center on the collection, maintenance, characterization (morphological, physiological and genetic), and on the availability of microorganisms (including cells, DNA, genes, plasmids and vectors) of Brazilian culture collections. Authentication and validation services to institutions and organizations are also offered. Initially, the project aimed at including information about diazotrophic and plant-growth promoting bacteria of culture collections of the Brazilian South and Central-West Regions, however, high demands of other collections resulted in redesigning the project. Presently, BMRC includes a broader net of information on microorganisms of Brazilian collections.
